Painting in progress, Julia is painting in the venetian method. As you can see the underpainting is a monochromatic terra verte (green). She has begun painting with the dead color, which is a specific palette of colors applied over the terre verte underpainting. You can see this most clearly on the baby's leg. As she progresses covering the entire painting with dead color she will complete the painting using a full palette.
